Grand Opening of Yarlung in NYC! July 05, 2024
Tashi Delek! Welcome to the Yarlung NYC. Yarlung is formed with the sole vision of preserving Tibetan language and culture in New York City. Yarlung aspires to make every Tibetan born in NYC learn to speak our Tibetan language, become familiar with our culture and tradition and then get to appreciate our Tibetan roots.
The name "Yarlung" itself refers to a place, located 55 miles SE of Lhasa, Tibet. The Tibetan Civilization itself has begun from Yarlung. It has an importance significance in both Tibetan history and the Tibetan identity. Yarlung was also a home to the first king of Tibet, Nyatri Tsenpo, and remained the capital of the Tibetan empire until it was moved to Lhasa in the seventh century by King Songsten Gampo.
Thus Yarlung NYC strongly believes that it will continue Yarlung's legacy of preserving and flourishing Tibetan identity through language and culture.
